Olympus OM-1MD : I acquired an Olympus OM-1MD and 50mm f/1.8 from KEH. It's an all-mechanical wonder that requires no batteries to operate, except for the center-weighted Cds light meter. I'm too lazy and cheap to retrofit the meter to work with alkaline replacements for the outlawed PX625 mercury battery, so all exposures are guessed using the Sunny 16 rule. Scanned with a Canon Pixma MP970.

Photo-A-Week 2008 : I tried to force myself to practice photography more in 2008, with the goal of producing a decent photo for 52 weeks straight. Naturally, having set a goal for myself I failed to keep up with it. Biggest lesson learned: it's very easy to slack off on shooting regularly, and not shooting regularly means not exercising the part of your brain that sees interesting compositions and subjects.

Minolta Hi-Matic 9 : Emboldened by the purchase of the Yashica Electro 35 GSN, I found another little gem for cheap on eBay, the Minolta Hi-Matic 9. Sadly, it arrived with a non-functioning shutter. Despite two trips to the repair shop, on a good day it only fires intermittently. The 45mm lens was not quite wide enough for my taste, so it's probably just as well.
